This is worth saying because most people in Seminole do not think about it until a key snaps off in the cylinder.
Seminole sits a few miles from the Gulf, and Boca Ciega Bay wraps the southwest edge of the area. Salt in the air corrodes lock hardware faster here than it does inland. Exterior deadbolts, gate locks, mailbox locks, and garage side-door locks are the usual casualties. If your key has started to feel gritty or you find yourself jiggling it to get the bolt to throw, that is the lock telling you it is on the way out.
Two minutes of graphite or a dry PTFE lubricant once or twice a year buys you years of service. Do not use WD-40 on a pin tumbler lock. It flushes the existing lubricant, attracts grit, and gums up the pins.
The other thing worth checking, especially for anyone in the lower-lying parts of Seminole near the bay: if a door has ever taken water, the lock inside it took water too. Storm-flooded hardware fails quietly, months later, usually at the worst possible time.
